Draft Scope:

Development of this Publicly Available Specification (PAS) is sponsored by the Regulatory Delivery Directorate of the Department of Business Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) following a recommendation of the Working Group on Product Recalls and Safety (WGPRS) with the objective of:

1. providing a code of practice for business that sets out currently accepted good practice in preparing for and undertaking, consumer product safety related recalls and other corrective actions, that:

is UK centric (not UK exclusive);

promotes the benefits of and assists with, pre-planning for corrective action in addition to providing guidance on the undertaking of such action;

steers business to engage with Market Surveillance Authorities (MSAs) both during the planning of Corrective Action Plans (CAPs) and in their undertaking.

2  provides assistance for Regulators, particularly Market Surveillance Authorities (MSAs), as to how best they can support business in meeting its responsibilities for implementing appropriate consumer product safety related recalls and other corrective actions when product, other than safe-product is placed on the market.

This document is therefor presented in two parts, with Part I setting out the code of practice for business, and Part II providing guidance for regulators. The annexes are relevant to both parts.
